Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

2018 was a big year for our family. We sold our first home, searched for and found our forever home, and moved house (hopefully for the last time). Our big boy started school and our twins started childcare. I also returned to full time work at my day job and taught about 500 group fitness classes.

2018 was also a productive year for making stuff. At the start of the year I set myself a challenge of not starting any new projects (with the exception of quilting bees) and instead focussed on clearing my WIP list. Although I didn't reach my target of less than 10 by the end of the year, I managed to reduce my list from more than 50 to less than 20. Here's a collage of some of my favourite finishes. I've still got quite a few to share here, so stay tuned for more details.

Last year I also took the plunge into simple garment making and made about 50 items of clothing for my children, plus a few for myself.

This year I'm looking forward to starting some new projects, as well as continuing to make progress on my WIPs (I'm hoping for more finishes than starts). First on the agenda will be my little brother's birthday quilt, which is due in a few weeks. I'm making him a Spinwheel quilt in blues and greys.

I've already got quite a few blocks (thanks to my 2018 bee group), but still have quite a few to go. I'm setting finishing this quilt as my Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal for January because I know it will help me stay motivated to finish it on time.
