Little Miss Sawtooth quilt

My final finish from my list of proposed Q4 finishes for the 2019 Finish-along Q4 finishes link-up is my Little Miss Sawtooth quilt. It's my favouite project from this quarter and I have about a thousand photos to share.

The quilt was made as part of the Little Miss Sawtooth sew along hosted my Melanie of Southern Charm Quilts and Havel's sewing. You can find all the tutorials for the cute sawtooth star blocks on the Havel's Sewing blog.

For this quilt I experimented with a softer, more muted colour palette than my usual brights, using a plummy colour for the outside stars.

For the blocks I had a great time fussing cutting some of my precious Heather Ross prints.

I also cut into some cute Cotton and Steel prints.

It's so hard to choose a favourite block...

But this one seems to be Gregory's favourite.

I just can't get over how pretty it is. I think this picture might have to become the wallpaper for my phone.

I managed to get it quilted on New Year's Eve after finding the perfect low-volume backing in Darn Cheap Fabrics. Harriet took care of the final User Acceptance Testing and gave it a big tick of approval.

Here she is in all her glory.

I can't wait to see more versions of this beautiful quilt as the sew along wraps up.

Rainbow popsicle quilt - pastel version

My next finish from my list of proposed Q4 finishes for the 2019 Finish-along Q4 finishes link-up is a pastel version of the  Rainbow Popsicle quilt, a pattern I tested for Jemima of Tied With A Ribbon. I loved the bright version so much that I wanted to make another in a softer, prettier palette.

This one was made the same way as my bright version, including using the same backing and binding. How perfect is this Windham Fabrics wideback?

The two quilts have been thoroughly tested by my 2 year old twins. There's nothing cuter than kids on quilts.

Rainbow popsicle quilt - bright version

The 2019 Finish-along Q4 finishes link-up closes in less than 24 hours and I've got a few finishes to catch up on. so get ready for some finished quilt spam!

The first finish from my list of proposed Q4 finishes is a bright version of the Rainbow Popsicle quilt, a pattern I tested for Jemima of Tied With A Ribbon.

For this version I simplified the pattern, using a single large piece (without the stripes) for the popsicle. The fabric I chose for the popsicle part has a slight shimmer to it. which reminds me of lemonade icypoles.

The background fabric is a mix of tone-on-tone solids from my stash. I love how it looks like a pride flag, especially in this pic of my husband trying to hold the quilt top up in the wind.

I finished it with some simple serpentine quilting with my walking foot and bound it with some classic black and white stripes.

This pattern is such a quick make - you can go from a fabric pull to a finished quilt top in just 2.5 hours. And I can say this confidently because I repeated the experiment - details in the next post.
