SBT50 February challenge

I'm a little late in posting but thought I would share a layout that I made for February's SBT50 challenge. This month we have a great sketch to play along with.

For my DT example I made a layout about our holiday last year to Hamilton Island. I stuck pretty closely to the sketch, except that I swapped the mixed media for a quilt-inspired background.

I used papers and stickers from the Pink Paislee Atlas collection, including some fabulous cork stickers with flecks of gold. I also incorporated a few pieces of memorabilia, which I always find fun to look back on.

There's still over a week left to play along so we hope you'll give it a go. Head over to the SBT50 blog for all the details and lots more examples.

  1. Hello Kat! Your layout is really fun. It's my first time on your blog and I love quilting so I took a look at your finished quilts, and I have a question: I adore your selvage quilt and I was wondering, how wide do you cut your selvages to save and use for future projects like this one? Thanks and keep up the great crafting!

    1. Thank you :) I cut my selvages with at least 0.5" of the print fabric (sometimes 0.75").

    2. Thanks so much for the info! I feel bad throwing mine away when such a beautiful quilt can be made from them! I really like how you made the selvages stand out with the aqua fabric between them. I had fun looking at all of your beautiful finished quilts on your blog. In particular I admired your Elizabeth Olwen strip quilt and the scrappy raspberry kiss blocks that you posted on Scraptastic Tuesday (how I found my way to your blog) are great!
