August One Monthly Goal Update

I haven't blogged in a few weeks (due to moving house) but it's the last day of the month so I'm linking up with Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal - August Finish Link-up and sharing my progress on my August goal. For August I had hoped to finish the last 12 snails of my Garden Snails quilt. I may have left it until the last day of the month, but I got them done (my first spot of sewing in three weeks!).

Now that we've mostly settled into the new place I'm hopeful that I'll be able to get a lot more crafting done, and I've got a craft room (my first ever) to do it in! Here's a little sneak peak:

More details to follow once it's fully set up :).

August SBT50 Aus challenge

The mid-month reveal for the August SBT50 Aus challenge is now up on the SBT50 Challenge blog. This month we have a fun sketch challenge to play along with:

The sketch can be rotated, flipped or adjusted, as long as we can see the bones of the sketch in your creation! For my DT example I rotated the sketch 90 degrees to suit the photos that I wanted to use.

Head over the the SBT50 Challenge blog for all the details and more DT inspiration. You've got till the end of the month so there is still plenty of time to play along.

August Beehive block

Just a quick post to share to blocks that I made for the August Queen Bee for our quilting bee group. Jane requested the Checker block in navy, teal and aqua and a white tone on tone for the cross bars.

I found out after I had finished the blocks that the teal I had used in the small HSTs was one of Jane's all-time favourite prints - a nice surprise for both of us :)

As usual, I am looking forward to seeing this quilt come together.

August ARTastic challenge

Today is mid-month reveal day for the ARTastic challenge blog. This month we feature this striking artwork by Joshua Miels called Illustrations.

The challenge for August is to create a project inspired by the above artwork and use Black and White PLUS One (which can be any colour). For my example, I made a pocket page using black, white and gold. I was inspired by the faces in the artwork to document my children at their current ages.

Head over to the ARTastic challenge blog for all the details and lots more examples. We hope you can join in this month.

Snail paced slow along and August One Monthly Goal

For the past 30 weeks I have been sewing along with the snail paced slow-along hosted by Angie of Gnome Angel. We've been making one snail block from the Garden Snails pattern a week and sharing via instagram on Sundays. I've really enjoyed seeing all the different snail blocks each Sunday and had a lot of fun taking pictures of my snails in various gardens.

You can see all of my snails here.

The sew-along was originally supposed to run for 42 weeks (as there are 42 blocks in the quilt) but Angie made a decision to cut the sew-along short to 30 weeks, with last week being the official end of the slow along. I'm worried that without the weekly deadline this project will sit as a WIP for a long time so I'm linking up with Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal August Linkup as setting the last 12 snail blocks as my goal for August.

I'm not sure how successful I will be since we are moving house in 9 days, but I'm hoping for a last minute effort once we have settled into the new place :)

July One Monthly Goal Update

I'm linking up at the last minute to the Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal - July Finish Link-up and sharing my progress on a scrappy trip around the world quilt from V & Co fabrics.

My goal for this month was to make 4 blocks, and I only just managed to finish the last one in the nick of time!

Hopefully I can get in a bit more selfish sewing next month.
